Steve planted tulip bulbs on November 14, the day before Sam was born. I remember watching him from the kitchen window and trying to imagine what life would be like when the tulips finally peeked out from the earth, heralding the arrival of spring. Well, here we are more than five months later and life couldn't be any better. Sam is thriving -- he has become quite a little explorer, touching everything in sight and bringing it straight to his mouth. He's also learning to mimic people as evidenced by the photo of Steve and Sam sticking their tongues out.

Home Sweet Home
We were home in Minnesota for a quick visit this weekend. The cousins got together on Saturday at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Fun was had by all!

Go Badgers
This weekend we dressed Sam in his best Badger red and headed to Madison to catch the Badger's spring football game at Camp Randall. It was a very different experience for Steve and me -- we're used to whiling away our time at Madison drinking beer and eating bratwurst, but it was fun to show Sam some of our favorite spots and formally introduce him to Wisconsin football. Go Badgers!

Sam Goes Five for Five
Sam is five months old – here’s a list of his five favorite things:
5. Playing in the exersaucer. The lights, bright colors and noises would give any grown up a splitting headache, but Sam can’t get enough of the thing.

4. Sucking on his toes. Sam is having a love affair with his feet. It makes the diaper changes a little challenging, but it’s super cute and we find ourselves watching him in awe.
3. Singing along to the “Wheels on the Bus.” If Sam ever gets a little cranky we simply break into song (and dance) and he immediately brightens up. He could also be a future Parrothead as he seems to have "fins up" down pat.
2. Seeing our faces when he wakes up. Seems a little vain, but it’s true and it’s awesome. His face lights up when he catches a glimpse of us leaning over the crib.
His number one favorite thing...Being wrapped in a warm towel after bath time. It makes him squeal with delight every time.

Spring has Sprung
Temperatures soared this weekend so we loaded up the Sam mobile and headed to the park. Sam fell in love with the swings and Steve and I rejoiced in being outdoors after a very long winter!
Also, after months of envying Art and Angie's camera, we bought a new one for ourselves. I've fallen in love -- we finally have a camera that can capture Samuel's perfect little eye lashes.

Tummy Time
When adults want to work out, they hit the gym or go for a run. When babies need a work out, they hit the floor for some tummy time. We’ve always encouraged tummy time, but in the early days Sam would whine and cry as fought to raise his head above his shoulders. Now, as my friend Sarah Fastner likes to say, Sam ROCKS tummy time. His world record is just over 50 minutes in one day (yes, the nanny keeps track!!)
The really fun bonus: tummy time provides some excellent photo opps.
